DID YOU KNOW

The Most Likely cause of having a crooked steering wheel after just completing a wheel alignment is damaged or malfunctioning turning radius plates!

Just because a turnplate freely turns and moves does NOT mean it is OK or not needing to be replace or serviced.  All it takes is one or more flat spots on the ball bearings inside a turnplate, where you can't see, to make it cause reading errors that your Alignment Machine Cannot compensate for.

Ask any Alignment Machine Service Technician who has been in the business and he will tell  you, when a client complains about his Aligner producing crooked steering wheels, 95% of the time replacing or servicing the turnplates will solve that problem.

Most modern turnplates use nylon bearings because they don't corrode or rust, but the problem with these bearings is they are VERY susceptible to SLAMS.  If you forget to lock the plates before driving a vehicle on or off the plates you could cause a slamming affect and create flat spots on the bearings of the plate.  Those flat spots will introduce measurement errors on any Alignment machine.

If the car is Front Wheel Drive and you pull off the plates it can cause a slam. If the brakes are pressed abruptly while driving onto plates that are not locked you could cause a slam.

It can be frustrating because if your plates have only been slammed once or twice then most of the time your steering wheels come out straight, but once in a while you have to pull a car back on the rack after test driving because it has a crooked steering wheel.  And there just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it.  Now you know!

Not sure if your turnplates are perfect?

Don't want to go through the very dirty and time consuming task of replacing the bearings in your turnplates?
